Stock control should not be a monthly plot twist.
A full stocktake gives you a point-in-time view of stock on hand. The activity between counts is what helps explain the result. Waiting for the next full count can leave a small question unresolved for weeks.
Start with a specific question
Choose a product or small group of lines for a reason. It may be a repeated difference, a product with frequent movements or a line that needs closer attention. A focused check is easier to follow up when the question is clear.
Check the activity as well as the count
Look at the deliveries, transfers, sales and recipe information relevant to the period. A difference is a starting point for investigation, not proof of loss or a reason to blame a team member.
Agree a next step
Recount where necessary, review the supporting records and record what you find. Give someone responsibility for the follow-up. The value of a line check is the action it makes possible.
Keep the routine manageable
A short, purposeful check that fits the operation is more useful than an ambitious schedule that nobody can maintain. Nifty19 brings targeted line checks into the wider stock-control process.
